The Winter Solstice Celebration provides a reflective, peaceful, non-religious
alternative to the holiday bustle.
It is easy to become lost during this time of the year, and to suffer a slight sense of hopelessness
as the light seems to diminish. With the rush of the Holiday season, the increasing darkness of the days
and the general stress of trying to meet the needs of family and friends, it becomes necessary to step back and take a moment to regroup. It is with this need in mind that Driftwood Public Library offers its
Winter Solstice celebration each year.
On that darkest of nights when the celestial tide turns and the nights
finally start becoming progressively shorter, and the days longer, the
library offers a program of music and readings to help mark the return of the
light.
