Meeting Room UseThe primary purpose of the meeting rooms at Driftwood Public library is for library and library related purposes and program space. When not in use by the library, the meeting rooms may be used by various other city departments or by the community at large. Meetings sponsored by any group are open to the public; no admission charges will be permitted except for charitable events approved by the Library Board. Use of the meeting rooms is permitted only within library operating hours. The Driftwood Public Library Board and the City of Lincoln City do not bar access to the meeting rooms to anyone on the basis of race, religion, sex, creed, age, national origin, or social and/or political views. The endorsement of such views is not implied by permitting any group to use the meeting rooms. In order to allow many different groups to have an opportunity to use the library meeting rooms, any repetitive use other than the library will be reviewed on a routine basis. Applicants will complete a room reservation form to confirm each date. Room fees are payable at the time of application. No refunds will be made if a cancellation is initiated by the applicant. No food or drink other than water will be allowed in library meeting rooms. If it becomes necessary due to a conflict in scheduling, the library reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any meeting room use. A full refund will be made should the library initiate the cancellation. Meetings or seminars that do not have a library purpose and that charge a tuition fee to individuals attending the meeting will be subject to the commercial group fee. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Applications for Room UseApplications for room use are available at the Circulation Desk at the library. Those needing applications faxed to them should call Ken Hobson at 996-1242 during library hours. All room scheduling is completed by Mr. Hobson. Availability of rooms for meetings can be verified by calling 996-1242. Displays of Art, Crafts, and Collections Permanent Acquisition of Art When considering the acquisition of art work, the Library Board shall appoint a committee to recommend appropriate action. The committee of five persons shall include a least one member of the Library Board, a member of the library staff, and persons from the community who have a suitable academic or professional background. All art work shall be submitted to the committee, which shall make its evaluation based on criteria of professionalism and suitability for the building. The Board reserves the right to dispose of any purchases or donations or portions thereof as it sees fit. Temporary Exhibits in Display Case and Friends Room Driftwood Public Library will permit the use of the display case and Friends Room to exhibit visually engaging and esthetically pleasing displays on topics or in mediums which will be appreciated by an audience of al age levels. The Library will accept applications (available at the Circulation Desk) from community groups engaged in educational, cultural, intellectual, or charitable activities or from individuals for display, which will include three (3) photographs representative of the items to be displayed. Selections of displays will be made by the Library Director and scheduled by the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers will assist with the installation of displays and art. Exhibitors must agree to save and hold harmless Driftwood Public Library and the City of Lincoln City form any and all loss, damage, or destruction. When the display is brought to the library, the party (s) will sign an agreement between Driftwood Public Library and the exhibitor. Items on display may not be offered for sale unless they are offered by the Friends of the Library, Driftwood Library Foundation, or other support groups raising funds for the benefit of the Library. The library retains the right to give its own displays priority in scheduling. Bulletin Boards Within the library proper, only library related signs, posters, or notices will be permitted. In the lobby, a bulletin board is provided for posting activities and events of interest to the community sponsored by non-profit community groups. The bulletin board is not intended as a forum or for items of a personal or commercial nature. All notices will require a date to determine when they should be removed. No material will be posted for more than 30 days. The library will post materials appropriate to the bulletin board’s purpose on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of the individuals or groups requesting the posting. Permitting the posting of any notices shall not be considered an endorsement by Driftwood Public Library or the City of Lincoln City of the activities being promoted or the group organizing them.
